I loved this proposal at the Athens Botanical Gardens! I could go on and on about how much I love Sidney and Walker, how adorable they are, and how precious their relationship is. But I’ll let the photos do that. Before that though, I asked Sidney and Walker to write for me when they knew they would marry each other, and their answers are beautiful.
I knew Walker was a man I COULD marry from the very first conversation we had. In every interaction we had you could see Christ in his life. By his honesty, the confidence he had in his future, and the passion he showed when talking about serving the Lord. I knew I WANTED to marry Walker when I realized that I could love him for the rest of my life. I wanted to marry a man who loved the Lord more than he would ever love me. Throughout our relationship that has been so evident. Through being honest with one another we have talked about sin and revealed to one another our many flaws. Being able to experience his reliance on the Lord through the trials in his life and his confidence in the Lord’s plan awakened my heart to what a Godly man he was. I was able to see his grace and forgiveness and how he was trying to love others like Christ loved him. I got to see his heart for the Lord and how that love overflowed to the people around him. I knew that was someone who would commit to loving me and someone who wanted to display Christ’s love for his Bride through an earthly marriage. I knew that he would make a great husband and that there was no one else in the world who I would rather spend my life with. I wanted to spend the rest of my life with someone who would point me to Christ with their actions and their words. Someone who would live to lead me to the cross and teach me how to love others better. Walker has done this from the very start and it was easy to fall in love with him.
Before I met Sidney, I did not know what it meant to truly love someone. I had always wondered how people knew when they found the woman they wanted to marry. I prayed that the Lord would bring the right woman into my life at the right time. There were times when I was frustrated and impatient with the Lord, but I know it was all according to His perfect will. Sidney is more than I could have ever imagined, and has shown me what it means to love. She has taught me that love is all about grace. Through talking and interacting with Sidney, I have been able to see this grace played out in a way that is far more evident than I have ever seen. She understands the grace that the Lord bestows on her daily, and she seeks to give that same forgiveness to others. I trust Sidney with anything and through being open and honest with each other, we have been able to see how sinful and how desperately in need of a Savior we are. I do not have to be perfect or do everything right, and I do not expect Sidney to be that way either. We understand that we each have flaws, many of them, and that they have been paid for and forgiven. In response, we should show each other that same grace. It is evident that Sidney loves the Lord more than anything or anyone, including me. She points me to Christ and challenges me to be a better man. She is so much fun and makes me smile like I never have before. After seeing her amazing personality, her devoted love for the Lord, and her grace that she shows me daily, I knew that Sidney was the one. I cannot wait to marry my best friend, and share our life’s journey together.
Waiting on Sidney and Walker to arrive, sniper style.
